PLASTICS & GELATINES
Rethinking our use of plastic, celluloid and gelatin in the Darkroom.
Collaborating with Alice Cazenave we have been working with bioplastics, Agar and SCOBY.
SCOBY is a symbiotic culture of yeast and bacteria, it is highly durable and a bi-product of making kombucha.

CHEMISTRIES
Traditional photographic darkroom chemistries are toxic and harmful to the environment. Disposing of them in a responsible way is complicated and difficult, espcially in countries with little intrastructure to deal with toxic and hazardous wastes.
Hannah, along with others from The Sustainable Dakroom and a larger network of film and photographic practitioners have been sharing research and resources for an number of low toxicity chemical alternatives including black and white film and paper developers that utalise plants and common household ingerdients, salt based fixers and vinegar based stop baths.
